Indian government planned to ban 275 more Chinese apps, list includes PubG , Resso

NEW DELHI, India has make out a list of 275 Chinese apps including PubG that it will examine for any violation of national security and users privacy. It is signalling to highlightened scrutiny and also possibility of more Chinese internet Companies being banned in the country on the basis of people aware of the development.


The 47 apps that have been banned by the latest decision of the government were operating as the clones of the 59 apps that were banned last month, according to a posted tweet by DD News


The new list of Chinese apps for examine includes, gaming apps PubG backed by china's valuable internet major Tencent , Zili by Phone maker Xiaomi's, AliExpress by eCommerce hugely Famous Alibaba as well as apps like Resso , U Like from TicTok  owner Byte Dance. 
The government may ban all, some or none from the new list of Chinese apps that is under examining.

Main reason to ban Chinese apps in India
  • The flow of data from Chinese apps to China that posses a threat to sovereignty and integrity of India
  • The violent face off between the armed forces of the two countries on 15june 2020.
  • The china's data sharing norms that requires companies of China origin to share data with the home country irrespective of where they operate.
  • Indian officials also cited that Chinese apps are threat to national security, Privacy and public order.
An official explain that It is aimed to identify more Chinese apps and their funding is underway. Some of these apps have been red flagged due to security reasons while others have been listed for violation of data sharing and privacy concerns.


The earlier ban was imposed on popular apps including TikTok, SHAREit, UC BROWSER, Helo, CAM Scanner and WeChat, among others. The government had ordered telcos to block access to all those apps as well as their related websites shortly after announcing the decision publicly through a press release. It also directed Apple and Google to remove the banned apps from their respective app stores in the country.


Chinese Internet Companies have about 300 million unique users in India, indicating that nearly two thirds of smartphone users in the country have downloaded is an industry estimates.
